The Crime branch has busted a racket of smuggling narcotics material in a closed body vehicle. Two persons have been arrested for carrying poppy husk, worth Rs 2.5 lakh, in a gas supply tanker. The accused have been identified as Mahesh Kumar (driver) of Bihar and Satya Prakash (assistant) of Uttar Pradesh.

Crime Branch in-charge Deepak Gulia said a police team, led by ASI Sundar Singh, intercepted a gas tanker near Sihol Misa village last night after receiving inputs. He said the tanker was stopped by the cops and upon searching the vehicle, poppy husk was recovered.

As many as seven plastic bags containing the drug were recovered by the police from the vehicle. The Crime Branch in-charge said the source and destination of the narcotics were yet to be revealed. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered in this connection.
