The police did not disclose the identity of the arrested accused.
Both suspects sustained bullet injuries on their legs during the exchange of fire with the police. They are presently undergoing treatment at the Civil Hospital. A third accused in the liquor shop firing is still on the run.
On a tip-off that two persons involved in the liquor shop firing were travelling on a bike, a team of CIA-2 laid a naka and signalled the riders to stop. Instead, the suspects, who had their faces covered, opened fire at the police party. Luckily, the police had a narrow escape as two bullets hit the police vehicle. The police then retaliated, said DSP Rajiv Kumar.
“A few days ago, these miscreants had fired at a liquor vend near Jhanjhari village. Their condition is stable, and they are undergoing treatment at the Karnal Civil Hospital,” he said.
The police personnel from different stations were rushed to the spot after the firing and the area was cordoned off for investigation. An FSL team also examined the site, the DSP said.
“Search is on for nabbing third accomplice of the suspects who is still on the run,” the DSP said, while adding, “Further action will be taken once the injured suspects are interrogated,” he maintained.
