Under-construction road raises safety concerns in Fatehabad

A new road being constructed from Bhuna to Dhani Sanchla–Bhojraj in Fatehabad has raised major safety concerns, with eight electricity poles, two transformers and 27 trees standing in the middle of the under-construction stretch. The obstructions have made the area highly accident-prone.

Though construction is progressing rapidly, the delay in shifting the poles and trees has left the stretch uneven and hazardous. The contractor is attempting to complete the project on schedule while minimising the risk of vehicle rollovers, but coordination gaps between the Power and Forest Departments are hindering essential shifting work.

Junior Engineer Ravindra Kumar said the district council’s sub-divisional officer had written several times to the Electricity and Forest Departments, confirming that the council was ready to bear the shifting costs as per rules. However, no action had been taken. He added that the delay was slowing construction and putting residents’ safety at risk.

Local residents, including Puran Chand Tak, Ajay Kumar, Natthu Ram, Satyawan, Premchand, Vikram Singh and Sanjay Kumar, said vehicles could easily collide with the poles or trees, especially at night or at high speed. They noted that accidents had occurred earlier and that the structures currently obstructing the road had heightened the danger.

Residents have urged the district administration to remove and relocate the electricity poles, transformers and 27 trees without further delay so the project can be completed safely. They said development could not be considered safe unless departments took responsibility and acted promptly.
