UP man held for Rs 23L fraud

The police have arrested Diptesh Chakravarti alias Rahul Kumar, a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
Kurukshetra police spokesman said on June 3, Kaka, a resident of Ladwa, in his complaint at Thanesar Sadar police station, stated that he wanted to go abroad. He came in contact with Rahul Kumar who claimed he can send two people abroad. Kaka said he managed to persuade a girl of Indri to go with him to Australia. A deal was struck at Rs 30 lakh, of which Rs 20 lakh was to be paid in advance and the remaining amount was to be settled upon flight confirmation.
The complainant further stated that the accused had taken Rs 23.81 lakh in different instalments and also took their documents, but they were not sent abroad. A case was registered at Sadar Thanesar police station under cheating charges.
The police arrested Diptesh Chakravarti, who had been duping people using the name Rahul Kumar. He was produced before a court, which sent him to four-day police remand.
