Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University Employees Union, Sonepat, on Wednesday announced an indefinite strike from July 10 as their demands were not being considered. They will march from the administrative blocks to Nidan Hospital to press for their demands. This was decided at a meeting of the union on Tuesday. The employees had held a protest yesterday as well but decided to protest indefinitely when their demands were not heeded.

The union apprised the university vice-chancellor of the decision and their demands in a letter today. Their demands included the recommendation of creating new posts be sent to the government without delay; pending promotions of the university employees be done; transfer of Class IV employees to their designated place of posting after promotion; installation of air conditioners in the university administrative block; repair of lifts that have been out of order for over 10 months; the repair of roads; an removal of locks on the emergency exits of the administrative block, among others.
