Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s wife Sudesh Dhankhar visited the 37th Surajkund International Handicraft Fair on Saturday.
She visited various stalls showcasing products by weavers, handicraft artists and craftsmen. The Khadi stall of the theme state Gujarat and “Apna Ghar” set up in the Haryana Pavilion grabbed her attention.
Apna Ghar patron Dr Mahasingh Poonia presented her a book based on Haryanvi folk culture and a ‘Pidha’ as a souvenir. Earlier, artisans tied a Haryanvi turban on her as a mark of respect. She also visited the pavilion of the partner nation United Republic of Tanzania and sought details about their culture and traditions.
She praised the government for its efforts to promote self-employment under the National Livelihood Rural Development Mission.
She also visited some of the stalls that were set up by self-help group. She purchased various eatables and Kashmiri shawls.
