Video of Kurukshetra cop being manhandled goes viral, accused booked

A video of a sub-inspector being manhandled by a person in the Pehowa area of Kurukshetra has gone viral on social media.

In the video, a person is purportedly seen manhandling Sub-Inspector Rajesh Kumar and also accusing him of slapping him in an inebriated condition and demanding money.

As per the information, Gita, a resident of Asmanpur, had made a complaint against her husband Sanjay Kumar of beating her after consuming liquor, following which the woman and her husband were taken to Pehowa Sadar police station. Meanwhile, Sanjay’s brother Bittu also reached there. Later, a verbal spat broke out between the policeman and the woman’s family members which took an ugly turn.

While the sub-inspector has been suspended and sent to police lines for his misconduct, a case has been registered against the people who attacked the policeman.

Kurukshetra SP Nitish Agarwal confirmed that a woman had made a police complaint against her husband following which they were taken to the police station. The husband of the woman and her brother-in-law were in an inebriated condition and indulged in arguments with the cop.

The SP said: “The sub-inspector has been suspended for his misconduct and not handling the matter properly, while a FIR has been registered against the people who attacked him. Further investigation in the matter is underway and appropriate action will be taken.”
