Residents of several villages blocked the Ambala-Saharanpur railway track at Saraswati Nagar (Mustafabad) railway station here today.

The people supported by leaders of Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) were demanding the stoppage of passenger trains at the railway station.

According to information, after holding a mahapanchayat at the railway station, they blocked the railway track between 12.30 pm and 3.50 pm. As a result, two goods trains and one passenger train were delayed.

Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) district president Sanju Gundiana said the people belonging to several villages of the Saraswati Nagar area had been demanding the stoppage and they had met with railway officers several times demanding the same.

He further said their demand was not fulfilled despite being assured by the officers. Gundiana said after receiving information about the blockage, Hanuman Prasad, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) of Ambala Railway Division, reached the spot.
