Villagers join admn’s efforts to plug breach in canal at Bhiwani village

The district administration has been trying to plug the breach in the canal. Deputy Commissioner Sahil Gupta however urged the villagers to come together with the district administration in relief efforts. Afterwards, a number of villagers joined the repair work to extend a helping hand .
Notably, cracks had appeared at several points in the Baliyali minor canal on Sunday night resulting in inundation of fields and there was also a threat that the water could reach the residential area in the village. The administration dispatched its team and efforts are being made to plug the breach with a number of villagers also working alongside the administration.
Earlier, the DC had urged the residents to immediately inform the district administration in case the flood water flowed towards the habitation areas in the village and asked the villagers to help the administration in preventing waterlogging. He said he was overwhelmed with the response of the people who were coming forward to cooperate with the district administration in taking measures in the waterlogging affected areas and assisting the officials in water drainage work.
Gupta said excessive rainfall and waterlogging were natural calamities, but they could be faced effectively only with unity and brotherhood. The DC had sent an electric boat from Bhiwani district headquarters for emergency assistance in flood-affected Sangwan village, where heavy waterlogging had impacted large parts of the residential area.
The administrative sources said a number of affected families had moved to safer places, several still remained in the village. To ensure the safety of their belongings and timely help, the administration provided the boat to the village panchayat.
The district administration has 10 electric boats for disaster management, out of which two have been sent to Jind, one to Dhanana for relief operations on the drain and one has now been deployed in Sangwan village.
Meanwhile, Deputy Municipal Councillor Gulzar Malik visited Bawani Khera town of Bhiwani district to review the situation in the town area. Accompanied by Municipal Chairman Sunder Atri, he assured that residents that regular water drainage would be ensured with the cooperation of citizens. He informed that additional pumps and pipelines had been installed at required places.
