The state government is set to launch a unique volunteer programme ‘Samarpan’ soon. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said this while presiding over a review meeting here today. “The ‘Samarpan’ programme is aimed at building a better society. Volunteers will play an important role in curbing crime through counselling programmes,” he said. — TNS

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
