The CIA-1 unit of the Kurukshetra police has arrested a wanted criminal with a pistol and live cartridges. The accused, identified as Rahul Malik, a resident of Kurukshetra, was carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head. There are 17 cases, including murder and attempt to murder, registered against him at different police stations.

CIA-1 in-charge Surender Kumar said on November 4, following a tip-off that Rahul Malik, carrying an illegal weapon, was present near the 18-storey temple. A team of CIA-1 reached the spot and spotted Rahul roaming in the parking of the temple.

“During checking a pistol and five live cartridges were recovered from his possession. A case was registered under the Arms Act at the Krishna Gate police station and he was arrested. One murder case, seven attempt to murder cases and nine cases of assault, Arms Act and other offences, had been registered against him at different police stations. He was produced before a court, which sent him to a two-day police remand,” Kumar said.
