Wanted criminal nabbed after encounter in Faridabad

The accused, identified as Bharat, is a native of Uttar Pradesh and member of the Hathauda gang. He was shot in the leg and admitted to hospital.
According to the police, the team of Crime Branch Central was on patrol, when it received information that Bharat, who, along with his accomplices, had attacked a Sumer Nagar resident a few days ago, would be arriving at the IMT area.
The team put up barricades to check passing vehicles. After sometime, the accused came on a motorcycle and turned it around on seeing the police party. He fell after his motorcycle went out of control. To escape the police, he opened fire. In retaliatory action, the accused was shot in the leg and nabbed.
“Five cases had been registered against him in the past for fighting, kidnapping, attempted murder and robbery. A reward of Rs 5,000 had also been announced. A country-made pistol, four empty shells, two cartridges and a motorcycle were seized from the spot,” said Varun Dahiya, ACP (Crime).
