ASP Goyal further said in his complaint submitted to the police on June 16, Narender of Risalu village said he was working in his fields when nearly 25 persons, including Ramesh, Ramratan, Gurdeep, Deepak, Rajesh and Amit of a village in Shamli, came there and attacked him.

The Sanoli police registered a case and began a probe into the matter. ASP Goyal said Junaid and Uvesh became friends in the district jail and that Junaid was released on bail around six months ago. He is a friend of Deepak. The latter told the accused that he wanted to possess the 11-acre land that belonged to the victim in Panipat, following which Junaid and Uvesh went to the spot with 20-25 youths, bearing weapons, and attacked the farmer, ASP Goyal said.

The accused has a criminal record in UP and Panipat. A total of 23 criminal cases have been registered against him, of which 16 cases were registered in several police stations of UP while seven were registered in Panipat. After being released on bail, he also opened fire on his brother-in-law, Nadim, in Garhi Besak village here on July 22.
