The scheme aimed at promoting women empowerment, economic security and social welfare.
Khattar was chairing a district-level programme to mark the launching of the scheme at the auditorium of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC). The programme was organised simultaneously with the state-level event at Panchkula, which was chaired by the Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
“We had promised to bring the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, and today we have fulfilled it. With the launch of the application today, women who register by October will start receiving financial assistance from November 1,” said Khattar. He said women aged between 23 and 60 years with an annual income of less than Rs 1 lakh will receive Rs 2,100 under the scheme.
Paying tribute to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay on his birth anniversary, Manohar Lal described him as a great thinker, social reformer, and supporter of Antyodaya. He said that Sewa Pakhwada was being observed nationwide from September 17 to October 2, with initiatives such as plantation drives, health camps, blood donation, TB awareness, and promotion of indigenous products.
He also recalled the role of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri in shaping the nation, while highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiatives, including Swachh Bharat Mission, Ayushman Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, and Drone Didi Yojana. He said that the old-age pension in Haryana would soon be increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,200. He emphasised that registration could be done easily through the Lado Lakshmi mobile app without any charges.
Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand said the Lado Lakshmi Yojana is based on Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay’s principle of Antyodaya and aimed at empowering women financially. He informed that around 21 lakh women in Haryana would benefit from the scheme, including 18.14 lakh married and 2.82 lakh unmarried women. The state government had allocated an annual budget of Rs 5,000 crore for the programme. He urged women to report immediately if anyone demanded money for registration.
