Weekly Covid infections have fallen below 1,000 for the first time in the last eight months. As many as 894 persons tested positive in the week that ended on Sunday.
The last time the state saw less than 1,000 cases in a week was in May, when 907 had tested positive between May 25 and 31.
For 894-odd fresh cases, various government labs tested 1,00,110 samples.
The overall positivity rate (percentage of samples testing positive out of the total tests conducted) stands at 5.3 per cent. The state has so far reported 2,67,203 cases out of 50,73,403 samples taken. The positivity rate has dropped to less than 1 per cent, signaling a marked improvement in the Covid-19 situation.
As per the bulletin issued by Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, 10,615 samples were tested in government labs across the districts and those established in various medical colleges run by the government in the past 24 hours. Of these, merely 71 samples were found positive, making it a positivity rate of nearly 0.7 per cent.
In the preceding 24 hours, 112 samples were found positive out of 10,492 tests conducted during the same period in these labs.
Rajeev Arora, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Haryana, said although the cases were declining, people should not lower their guard.
On herd immunity in the state, Arora said only 14 per cent people had tested positive for antibodies in the sero-survey held in October last, hence herd immunity was unlikely to be the reason behind lesser number of cases.
Meanwhile, the total number of active cases has come down to 1,511, with cases per lakh of population falling to six.
Of the 22 districts, Charkhi Dadri, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Hisar, Jhajjar and Nuh have total active cases in just single digit while Jind, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Palwal and Sonepat have less than 25 active cases each.
Gurugram and Faridabad are the only two districts where active cases are in three digits at 418 and 219, respectively.
Nuh district is left with just one active case while Hisar and Jhajjar have four cases each.
