AFTER the issue of garbage piling up at Yadav Colony in Ward 7 of Jhajjar city was published, the district administration swung into action, asking sanitary workers to remove garbage from the site. Municipal staff inspected the area, warning those who dump garbage here not to do so or a fine would be imposed upon them. Dhabas encroach upon road near MC office

DHABAS operating near the municipal council office here have become major irritants for area residents. Since these dhabas are set up on the road, they obstruct normal flow of traffic, with the problem worsening during busy rush hours. Dhaba owners have put up tandoors, tables and installed boards on the road, obstructing the smooth movement of vehicles and resulting in frequent traffic jams. The attempt to get this road cleared by council staff a few months ago was foiled by the relatives of an elected councillor due to “vote bank politics”. The district administration should intervene to get these illegal encroachments removed immediately in the interest of the general public.
