Though the damaged patches are required to be repaired with tarcoal or cement mixture, agencies are dumping earth and construction waste to fill up the potholes. This has resulted in severe dust pollution due to vehicles passing over these. While the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) have directed the authorities concerned to ensure tough measures to curb dust and air pollution , this type of action on part of the civic administration of the city, tagged as Smart City, is uncalled for and a violation of the regulations. —Varun Gulati, Faridabad
