With traffic flow in most parts of the city severely disrupted, likely due to the ongoing festive season, the main issue appears to be encroachments by shopkeepers and vendors. Many have set up stalls in front of their shops, occupying footpaths, verandas and parking spaces designated for vehicles. The width of the roads has effectively narrowed as vendors use space intended for the movement of shoppers and commuters. As a result, vehicles traveling through commercial and market areas face daily traffic jams. The situation worsens in the evenings when market footfall peaks, movement space is minimal, and traffic regulation is poor or nonexistent. Sumer Khatri, Faridabad

Iron gates installed sans authorisation

In several upscale localities, residents have installed iron gates without authorisation from the relevant authorities. These gates lack security personnel to open and close them during nighttime, making it inconvenient for residents to enter or exit, especially at night. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) should prioritise the removal of these unauthorised gates at the earliest.

Ramesh Gupta, Gurugram
