What our readers say: Shambhu border should be opened to public
The Haryana-Punjab inter-state border at the Shambhu border has been lying closed for over a year now, causing inconvenience to commuters. People travelling from Haryana to Punjab are forced to take alternative routes and burn extra fuel to reach their destination. The government should get the matter resolved and reopen the inter-state border.

Levying triple toll charges on National Highway not justified
IT is intriguing to observe that commuters plying vehicles between Murthal and Karnal on the NH-44, have to pay toll charges at three places namely at Bhagan Toll plaza, Elevated Toll Plaza at Panipat and Gharaunda Toll Plaza. The levying of ‘triple’ toll charges for travelling a total distance of just 71 km, goes against the underlying spirit of the relevant fee rules 2008, which provide that the spacing between two adjacent toll plazas should be 60 kms. How come that the NHAI continues to turn a blind eye to it and the hapless commuters passing through this stretch are being made to bear the brunt.
