The Punjab and Haryana High Court has sought Haryana’s explanation for withdrawing the security provided to the president of the Haryana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC). Justice Suvir Sehgal directed the State counsel to file an affidavit stating the reasons for the withdrawal.

“A copy of the letter be supplied to the State counsel who shall file an affidavit explaining the reason for withdrawal of security,” he asserted.

The commission, through its counsel Pardeep Solath, had moved the high court, alleging interference by the government. “The counsel for the petitioner submits that State Government is interfering with the administrative functioning of the State Commission Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC). He contends as per the settled legal position, the administrative control vests with the president of SCDRC,” the Bench observed.

The court also issued notice of motion to the State and other respondents for August 18.
