Minister of State for Women and Child Development Kamlesh Dhanda has said the state government has started a scheme to give subsidy on loans for widows.

She said this project would be run through the Haryana Women Development Corporation. She said widows who had an annual income of Rs 3 lakh and were in the age group of 18 to 55 years would be eligible to get benefits under this scheme. She said under the scheme, they would be provided 25 per cent subsidy on loans up to Rs 3 lakh, with the maximum limit being Rs 50,000.

She said 10 per cent of the total loan would be given by the woman and the remaining amount would be given through banks. She said under the scheme, a provision would be made to provide loans to 1,000 widows in the first year and Rs 5 crore would be provided as subsidy by the Haryana Government.

She said this scheme would be implemented through banks, wherein the loan would be given by the bank to the eligible woman without holding any collateral security. — TNS
