Chandigarh, August 31
The Uttari Haryana Rice Millers Association, a representative body of over 500 rice millers of North Haryana comprising districts of Ambala, Yamunanagar and Panchkula, has threatened to boycott the government procurement agencies for 2024-25 if their demands are not met.
Association chairman Satpal Gupta, secretary Vishal Gupta and executive member Ashok Kalra alleged that despite reminders, the authorities were yet to clear the pending arrears of rice millers for the custom milled rice (CMR) work amounting to over Rs 500 crore for 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24.
Besides, in 2023-24, the delivery of about 2.5 lakh metric tonnes (MTs) of rice was still pending on account of acute shortage of space in the godowns of the Food Corporation of India (FCI). — TNS
