Independent candidate from Gurgaon Assembly constituency, Naveen Goyal, held a mega public rally today in Leisure Valley, Gurugram. Goyal, who has emerged as a major challenge to the BJP candidate Mukesh Sharma, appealed to public to give him five years to revamp the Millennium City. Goyal said if he failed to restore the lost glory of Gurugram, he would leave the city forever.

“I am not making fake promises. Look at my vision document. I have each and everything planned, even in terms of funding and execution. Both Congress and BJP have fooled you for twenty years. It is time you trust somebody amongst you. Give me five years. If I fail to change the fate of the city, I will leave Gurugram permanently in 2029,” Goyal said.

Targeting the BJP, Goyal said despite being a cosmopolitan city, Gurugram had been polarised by the BJP with minorities and migrants being at the receiving end.

“They are still seeking votes in the name of religion and caste. They have no explanation as to what went wrong and have no plan to resolve it. Gurugram has trusted these people for too long, but now needs to switch to choosing someone with a vision. It is surprising that Congress and BJP are begging voters to vote for either of them and ignore Independents as they know we come with solutions and people support us,” he added.
