Woman molested, thrashed by auto-rickshaw driver in Gurugram

A 25-year-old woman carrying her 11-month-old child was allegedly thrashed and molested by an auto driver. The woman left her house in rage late night along with the child after a fight with her husband. She boarded an auto asking him to drop her at Chattarpur. However, the accused driver took her to a secluded spot in the DLF-I area and tried to rape her.

The victim claimed that as she slapped the accused, he snatched her daughter from her and threatened to kill her. It was only when she raised the alarm that some cab drivers reached there. However, the auto driver managed to flee.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, she lives in the Chakkarpur area with her husband and child. She left her house on Monday midnight after a fight with her husband and took her daughter along with her to go to her father’s house in Chattarpur.

“I crossed the MG Road and went towards the DLF-II where I took an auto at 1:30 am on Tuesday. I asked the driver to drop me at Chattarpur. He agreed, but soon drove towards a secluded spot and stopped there. He started misbehaving and molested me after which I slapped him. He then thrashed me badly. The driver snatched my daughter and threatened to kill her. I shouted for help after which two cab drivers came there. However, the driver managed to flee,” the victim told the police.

An FIR has been registered against the unidentified auto driver under Sections 323, 354 and 506 of the IPC at the DLF-II police station.

“The woman and her child were handed over to her husband. We are seeing the CCTV footage of the area and managed to get some vital clue. We are conducting raids and the accused will be nabbed soon,” said Inspector Yakub Khan, SHO, DLF-II police station.
