Woman’s body found in drain in Bapoli area
Panipat, February 15
A 25-year-old woman’s decomposed body was found in a semi-nude condition in a jute bag in a drain near Shimla Gujran village in the Bapoli area of the district. The woman’s neck had been slit, said the police.
The police have registered a case and launched a probe into the matter. Efforts are on to identify the woman. The body was found in a poor condition as the legs had been mauled by dogs.
Kuldeep Singh of Shimla Gujran village, in his complaint to the Bapoli police, said he saw a leg coming out a a jute bag floating in the drain. He informed the village sarpanch and the police. Attar Singh, SHO, Bapoli, along with his team reached the spot. “The body found in the drain near Shimla Gujran village is around 10 days’ old,” said the SHO.
It is being suspected that the woman was murdered by slitting her throat at some other location and then dumped into the drain to keep the crime a secret, the SHO added.
“We are trying to identify the woman and the postmortem examination will be conducted tomorrow,” he said. A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC and a probe into the matter is underway, the SHO said.
