Ambala: A workshop on classroom management was conducted for teachers at OPS, Vidya Mandir. Kakali Bagchi, CBSE national awardee, enlightened the teachers with the tips of valuable and practical methodology on classroom management. The workshop focused on the elements of classroom management, which included content, conduct and covenant management. Various activities were undertaken to illustrate these elements with an involvement of the teachers. The resource person highlighted the importance of management and emphasised that for the effective classroom management, it is important for the teacher to be well-versed with teaching methodology and to have a positive approach.

Students shine in draught c’ship

Ambala: Students of OPS Vidya Mandir, Ambala, participated in the 64th Open National Draught Championship-2019 organised under the Draught Association Of India. It was held on the premises of Panjab University, Chandigarh. As many as 350 students from 10 states participated in this championship while 44 from OPS Vidya Mandir, Ambala, brought laurels to the school by securing medals. The school also clinched the overall championship trophy. Principal Neelam Sharma congratulated the winners on their stupendous performance.

Plans afoot for global pacts

Faridabad: In order to develop successful strategic partnerships with international universities, the JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, has been preparing a work plan to identify the area of research in a specialised field wherein it can avail grants from global funding agencies. It was disclosed in a meeting with Harjit Singh, a representative from Brunel University, London, held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Dinesh Kumar organised by the international affairs cell here. The objective was to explore research and development opportunities on the ‘Best use of solar energy’ through collaboration between both the universities. The VC said the university was working towards strengthening its international tie-ups so as to further fostering advancement in teaching, learning and research.

Orientation course concludes

Hisar: A 21-day orientation course for newly appointed faculty members, scientists and extension specialists organised at the Lala Lajpat Rai University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences concluded recently. Convener of the course Nirmal Sangwan informed that 27 newly appointed teachers scientist and extension specialists were imparted training about future assignments related to their subjects. He said they were also taken on educational tours to different institutes in Dehradun and Mussoorie during the course. Dr Gurdial Singh, Vice Chancellor, urged the newly appointed members of the university to take interest in the grievances and issues related to farmers and work towards their redress.

Weeklong NSS camp begins

Jind: A weeklong NSS camp started at Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU), Jind, on Friday. Chief guest Ashwin Shenvi, SSP, inaugurated the camp and motivated the students towards social work. Vice Chancellor RB Solanki presided over the function and said two volunteers from the CRSU had been selected for the National Republic Day parade. Registrar Prof Rajesh Punia talked about value-based education. Certificates were distributed among 50 NSS volunteers during the camp. NSS programme officer Anupam Bhatia, Prof Sandeep Berwal, Dr Sandeep Purva and Dr Manju Suhag were present on the occasion.
