The World University of Design (WUD) held its fourth convocation ceremony at its Sonepat campus. Sameep Shastri, Vice-Chairman, BRICS Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BRICS CCI), graced the event as chief guest. Degrees were awarded to 220 students. The convocation marked the transition of students from diverse design disciplines into professionals. The university also awarded honorary doctorate degrees to three creative luminaries, highlighting its commitment to recognising and rewarding excellence. They are KS Radhakrishnan, a modernist sculptor, who has been blending traditional and contemporary forms and is celebrated for iconic figures like Maiya and Musui; Bappa Ray, an anthropological filmmaker whose award-winning documentaries preserve India's rural and tribal cultures and have earned global acclaim and UNESCO recognition; and Ashok B Lall, a visionary architect and educator advancing sustainable, socially responsible design through iconic projects and advocacy for low-carbon, affordable housing. These pioneers have redefined their fields, leaving lasting legacies in art, film and architecture."It is an honour to be part of the fourth convocation at the World University of Design, an institution that plays a vital role in shaping the future of design education. In a rapidly evolving global landscape, creativity, innovation and cross-cultural collaboration are paramount. As BRICS nations continue to strengthen ties, the graduates here today represent the visionaries who will drive progress and foster collaboration across borders," said Chief Guest Sameep Shastri.
