An Executive Engineer of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) suffered injuries after he was allegedly assaulted at his residence on Wednesday morning. A row over payment of the newspaper bill is reported to be the main cause of the incident.

In the complaint lodged with thepolice, Vinay Atri, an XEN posted in the Power Supply Department here, claimed he was assaulted by three persons, including a newspaper hawker, this morning outside his house, when he came to settle the pending newspaper bill. He told the police that the main accused, identified as Raju (hawker) accompanied by two other persons, beat him with sticks and a brick after he demanded the GST bill of the pending payment. It is claimed that while the accused refused to give the GST bill to the complainant, he came back after some time and assaulted the official and allegedly manhandled his wife and daughter after they tried to intervene. The incident was recorded in the CCTV camera installed nearby.

Charging the local police station cops of misbehaviour, Atri said his complaint was accepted by the police after the intervention of the DHBVN officials. “No arrest has been made so far. The matter is being investigated,’’ said a police official.
