This matter came to light when on the directions of Amitabh Singh Dhillon, Additional Director General of Police, Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, checked the record of stone crushers and screening plants.

The Enforcement Bureau's investigation found that a number of stone crushers were non-functional on the e-rawana portal of the Mines and Geology Department and making no sale and purchase of mining minerals. While such stone crushers' GST return was NIL, their electricity consumption was quite high, indicating the processing of illegally mined minerals and huge revenue losses to the Mines and Geology Department, Excise and Taxation Department (Sales Tax), Income Tax Department and other departments.

The Enforcement Department sought the record of electricity bills from Haryana power utilities and GST return from the Sales Tax Department of all stone crushers of the district from December 2023 to March 2025 to identify those engaged in illegal operations.

“During checking of electricity bills/e-rawana bills, the Enforcement Bureau found that a number of stone crushers and screening plants have processed the minerals illegally in Yamunanagar, Ambala and Panchkula districts and had sold it,” reads the letter issued by Director General of Mines and Geology Department for personal hearing to crusher owners.

The crusher owners of Yamunanagar district have been advised to appear before the Director General of the mining department in Panchkula on August 4.
