The illegally installed hoardings, banners and other publicity materials were spoiling the beauty of the twin cities. Besides, the MCYJ is also facing a loss of revenue worth lakhs of rupees due to these hoardings installed without permission.
Meanwhile, common people were facing problems due to traffic disruption due to the illegal publicity materials. According to information, on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad, the drive was carried out by a team led by SDO Rajesh Sharma.
The SDO said his team removed hoardings, banners, signboards, posters, and other publicity materials from roadsides and divider poles on Jagadhri Workshop Road; from Maharana Pratap Chowk to Vishnu Nagar; from Madhu Chowk to Maharaja Agrasen Chowk of Jagadhri on Railway Road and from Jagadhri bus stand to Matka Chowk and Maharaja Agrasen Chowk on Ponta Sahib Road.
“After removing the hoardings, banners and other publicity materials, they were loaded in the vehicles of the MCYJ and were taken to the godown of the MCYJ,” said Rajesh Sharma.
He said that several legal advertising sites had been established at various locations in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri for installation of hoardings and banners. “Anyone can install their hoardings and banners at the legal locations by paying the prescribed fee to the MCYJ,” said Sharma.
He said no shopkeeper should place hoardings, signboards or banners on the road, instead they could place signboards and banners in their shops. “No one should place hoardings, banners and other publicity materials on roads, parks and public places without the permission of the MCYJ. The hoardings and banners installed without permission will be removed and confiscated,” said Sharma.
He said the action would continue in future also to remove hoardings and banners installed illegally in the twin cities.
