Yamunanagar gears up for PM Modi’s visit

Additional Municipal Commissioner Dheeraj Kumar on Saturday held a meeting with officials of the Yamunanagar-Jagadhri Municipal Corporation (MC), and took stock of preparations being made for the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the meeting, he said the ongoing beautification and other developmental work in the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri should be expedited so that such work could be completed before the arrival of the Prime Minister.

He said the Prime Minister would come to Yamunanagar to lay the foundation stone of the third unit of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant on April 14.

“I have asked officers of the MC to beautify the twin cities before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I have asked them to especially ensure the beautification of all roads of the district. Garbage accumulated on roadsides and bushes growing along roads and in empty plots should be cleared,” Kumar added.

He said officials had been asked to repair damaged roads and dividers immediately.

Officials were also asked to get the cleanliness system of the twin cities improved and parks beautified, he added.

“The citizens of twin cities have been appealed to dispose of dry and wet waste separately, and only in MC vehicles,” he said.

Roads were being repaired and dividers, grills and streetlight poles were being painted, he added.

“Trees planted on roadsides and between dividers are being trimmed and given a beautiful look. Work is also being done to beautify parks. All social, religious and other associations have been appealed to cooperate with the MC in this drive,” Kumar said. Officials had also been given instructions to get roadside encroachments removed, he added.

“Officials have also been asked to get old vehicles parked on roadsides removed,” he said.

Kumar has also instructed officials to rehabilitate stray cattle in gaushalas.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Arun Bhargava, and Chief Sanitary Inspectors Sunil Dutt, Harjeet Singh and Surender Chopra were among those present at the event.
