Health Minister Anil Vij today said medical colleges would be opened in Yamunanagar, Kaithal and Sirsa districts which would cost around Rs 1,000 crore. He said after this, the number of medical colleges opened during the tenure of the BJP government would increase to 13.

Vij said the construction work for the medical colleges would be initiated soon. Approval had been received from the Central government in this regard. Over Rs 325 crore will be spent on each of these medical colleges in collaboration with the Centre. The state government was making efforts to start the colleges by 2023, he added.

He said construction was underway at Government Medical College and Hospital, Koriyawas, Mahendragarh; Government Medical College and Hospital, Jind; Government Medical College and Hospital, Gurugram; and Government Medical College, Bhiwani. — TNS
