These challans were issued for violation of lane change, drunk driving, noise pollution, bullet crackers and other violations.
Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman, said the district police, under the direction of Director General of Police OP Singh and under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Kamaldeep Goyal, conducted a special drive in Yamunanagar district from November 16 to November 23 to ensure road safety. The district police issued challans to 336 drivers during this period.
He further said that the police issued 321 challans for lane change, three for noise pollution, 11 for drunk driving and one for other violations.
“The primary objective of this campaign was to crack down on those who drive under the influence of liquor or other narcotics and disobey traffic rules. It is common to see that many drivers drive vehicles under the influence of liquor or other narcotics at night, endangering themselves and other road users,” said Chamkaur Singh.
