The market will be cleaned completely with the help of sanitation staff, loaders and other mechanical equipment. The MC will prepare manure from the waste to be collected from the vegetable market.

The decision was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Mayor Suman Bahamani in Yamunanagar on Monday. The meeting was attended by the officers of the MCYJ, Market Committee and Sabzi Mandi Association.

Mayor Suman Bahamani inspected the sabzi mandi last Wednesday. During the inspection, problems of dirt, encroachment, mud and garbage lifting were highlighted.

Office-bearers of the Sabzi Mandi Association also put forth their problems before her. She called a special meeting at the Mayor House on Monday to resolve the problems. The meeting was joined by secretary of market committee Mohit Beri, MC XEN Vikas Dhiman, Sanitation Inspector Sushil Kumar, pradhan of Sabzi Mandi Association Amrit Wadhawan and other officials of the MC and market committee.

The Mayor said, “Once the vegetable market is cleaned, regular cleanliness work will be carried out. A designated place will be made to dump the garbage and its boundary wall will be built,” said Bahamani.

“Challans will be issued and goods will be confiscated from those who dump garbage in the open,” said the Mayor.

She said all the vegetable and fruit sellers, shopkeepers, commission agents and customers would be made aware about not throwing garbage in the open, not using polythene, using dustbins and not encroaching upon the roads.
