The state government has appointed Jaswinder Singh as the first Registrar of Sports University of Haryana, Rai, in Sonepat. Governor Bandaru Dattatreya has issued a notification in this regard.

The university has been constituted by the state government as a special university for providing world-class facilities in the field of sports. The varsity aims to provide international exposure to aspiring sportspersons of the state. Brought up in a farming family, Singh hails from Jubbal, a small village in the Radaur sub-division of Yamunanagar district.

He has studied at Mukand Lal National School, Radaur; Mukand Lal National College, Radaur; and Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra.

Jubbal villagers and his college-mates described him as a grounded person with a strong belief system.

“Singh has multifarious exposure in legal, financial, administrative and the academic setups of Centre and the state government. His appointment as the first Registrar of the university proves the state government dedication to making the state a nursery for producing the world champions, and sending them to the Olympics and other international sports events,” Prince Ahuja, Singh’s college-mate, said.
