A 22-year-old youth was charred to death after he came in contact with a live electricity wire while posing for a TikTok video near the Matlaudha railway station here on Monday evening.

The deceased was identified as Vikas, alias Vicky, of Dharamgarh village of Madlauda block of the district.

The incident took place around 4 pm on Panipat-Madlauda railway line. Scores of villagers gathered at the spot and informed the GRP about a body hanging from a pole.

SI Hawa Singh reached the spot and pulled down the body after cutting the power supply. He said the wire was carrying 25,000 volts current.

Sagar, a friend of the deceased, said Vikas climbed the pole to make a TikTok video but got electrocuted.

Today, the deceased’s body was handed over to the kin after an autopsy. — TNS
