Youth held for sexually abusing minor girl

The police have arrested a youth for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl (17) and making her pregnant.

The accused, identified as Rehmat Ali (20), allegedly kidnapped the girl and kept her confined in a room in Ambala where he sexually abused her.

It is alleged that Ali was also trying to sell her, but when the girl came to know about his intention, she somehow ran away from there.

According to the information available, a woman, who lives in a village falling under Sadar police station of Jagadhri, lodged a complaint with the police on May 17. She told the police that her 17-year-old daughter had gone somewhere without telling anyone in the house.

After registration of a case, the police started searching for the minor girl.

Later, the girl came back to her house and her mother brought her to the police station on June 17.

After getting the statement of the girl recorded in court, the police got the medical examination done and she was found pregnant.

When the girl was counselled on June 18, she told the police that she used to talk to a youth on Instagram. The youth took her forcibly away from her house on the pretext of marrying her and sexually abused her.

The victim told mediapersons that Rehmat was trying to sell her, but she somehow ran away from there and reached her house.

Tarsem Chand, SHO, Sadar police station, Jagadhri, said that a team led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Jaswinder Kaur was formed to arrest Rehmat Ali alias Ali of Rampur district in Uttar Pradesh. He was currently living near Jansui Head of Ambala.

The SHO added that the accused was produced before a district court in Jagadhri and the court sent him to judicial custody.
