Youth held with illegal firearm, sent to police remand
The Kurukshetra police on Saturday arrested a youth and recovered a country-made pistol along with a live cartridge from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Rajat Verma, a resident of Kurukshetra. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to four days of police custody.
According to police spokesperson Naresh Kumar, the arrest followed a tip-off received on May 10 by a team from the Subhash Mandi police post. Acting swiftly, the team located Rajat Verma near the 18-storeyed Gyan Temple. Upon conducting a search, the police recovered the weapon and ammunition from him.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered at Krishna Gate police station and further investigation is underway.
