An elderly car occupant, Sita Ram (75) of Mamoor village, was killed on the spot when the car he was travelling in met with an accident last evening at Nagabari on the Pathankot-Mandi national highway.

His son, Vaneet Kumar, who was driving the car was seriously injured. The deceased’s wife Sagri Devi and granddaughter Mahak suffered minor injuries in the mishap. The victims were rushed to a local civil hospital, where Sita Ram was declared dead.

As per information, the driver lost control over the vehicle and it fell into a ditch, dug by the construction company for widening the highway. During the past one year, a number of road accidents have occurred between Kandwal-Jassur stretch due to lack of reflective caution boards, especially near the accident-prone areas, which have turned into black spots amid the ongoing construction work.
