10 fresh cases of COVID-19 in Himachal

Himachal Pradesh recorded 10 more cases of COVID-19 within a span of 24 hours, taking the virus tally in the state to 195, officials said on Sunday.

Three of the fresh cases were reported from Una and one each from Kangra, Hamirpur and Solan districts, they added.

All of them had recently returned from other states. While three of them had returned from Mumbai, two returned from Delhi and one from West Bengal, they added.

Una Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar told PTI that a woman and her two sons tested positive for novel coronavirus. All of them had returned from Mumbai recently, he added. Solan District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. NK Gupta said that a West Bengal returnee tested positive for COVID-19. He is a 43-year-old man who hails from Khobla village in Ramshehar subdivision and was among the other five positive cases who had returned in two trucks from West Bengal on May 19. He was tested on May 20. MLA Doon Paramjit Singh and former Nalagarh MLA KL Thakur, who had distributed fruits at this quarantine centre on May 20, have been quarantined at home. Health staff will also draw their samples for testing.

In Kangra, a man from Palampur’s Panchrukhi tested positive for COVID-19, Superintendent of Police Vimukt Ranjan said.

He had recently returned from Delhi and was kept under quarantine at a facility at Baijnath, he added.

Hamirpur Deputy Commissioner, Hairkesh Meena, said that a 20-year-old woman also tested positive for  COVID-19.

A resident of Baragram in Badsar area, the woman had returned from Delhi along with her relatives on May 18 and was quarantined at government high school, Baragram, he added.

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Himachal Pradesh now stands at 129..

Hamirpur has the most number of  cases in the state at 61. Kangra (50),Una (24), Solan (20), Chamba (14), Mandi (11), Bilaspur (8), Sirmaur (4), Shimla (2) and Kullu (1) make up the rest of the state’s count.

Hamirpur also has the most number of active cases at 55, followed by Kangra (36), Mandi (9), Una (7), Solan (11), Chamba (3), Bilaspur (4), Sirmaur (2), Shimla (1) and Kullu (1).
