The Nurpur police last evening intercepted a car HP-88-7916 at Kandwal under the Nurpur police station and seized 109.52 gm of heroin (chitta) from a couple travelling in the vehicle. The cops arrested the car occupants and claimed to have succeeded in smashing an inter-state drug racket by this seizure.

The Nurpur police registered a case under Sections 21,25,29 of the NDPS Act against the couple.

SP Nurpur Ashok Ratan said the police had got a tip-off regarding the involvement of Ravi Kumar in inter-state drug smuggling. “The police laid a trap to nab him when he was on his way from Amritsar to his native place last evening after collecting contraband from Amritsar and arrested him with the seized heroin,” he said.
