Hamirpur/Nurpur, December 28
As many as 136 candidates filed nomination papers for 34 seats of four urban local bodies in Hamirpur district today. These four civic bodies are the Municipal Committee Hamirpur, and Nagar Panchayats of Bhota, Nadaun and Sujanpur.
There are 11 wards in the Municipal Committee Hamipur, besides seven wards in Nagar Panchayats of Bhota and Nadaun and nine wards in Nagar Panchayat Sujanpur.
Hamirpur SDM CL Thakur said that 52 candidates filed nomination papers for the seven wards of the Municipal Committee Hamirpur. Barsar SDM Om Prakash Sharma said that 22 candidates filed nominations for the seven wards of Nagar Panchayat Bhota. Nadaun SDM Vijay Dhiman said that 23 candidates filed nominations for the seven wards of the Nagar Panchayat while 39 candidates filed nomination papers for the nine wards of Nagar Panchayat Sujanpur.
In the Nurpur Municipal Council, 27 candidates have filed nominations papers for nine wards. Five candidates have filed nominations in Ward number 7 while in Ward number 8, one candidate has filed two sets of nomination papers. The outgoing chairperson of the Municipal Council, who hails from Ward number 4, has filed her nomination from Ward number 9.
In Jawali, 36 candidates have filed nominations for the nine wards of the Nagar Panchayat. On the last day for filing nominations today, 16 candidates filed their papers.
