A 15-year-old girl from Kangra district has given birth to a baby girl at Dr Rajendra Prasad Medical College and Hospital in Tanda, sources in the police confirmed here on Wednesday.

SHO Kuldeep Kumar said the minor was raped by a man, who was arrested by the police. Preliminary probe revealed that the accused is victim’s uncle.

A case was registered under the Protection of POCSO Act-2012 and BNS. The girl was brought to hospital after she complained of severe stomach pain. Upon medical examination, it was found that she was in a labour pain, following which the doctors performed delivery of the baby. Following this, the hospital administration approached the police, who recorded the statement of the girl’s mother, after which, the accused was held.
