19-year-old girl dies by suicide in Shimla

A 19-year-old girl, living in Balika Ashram, Mashobra, around 11 km from the state’s capital, has allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself in the ashram.

According to reports, the girl was a native of Chamba district and was currently residing in the ashram. People found her hanging near the staircase area and immediately raised an alarm. A police team along with a forensic team reached the spot and recovered the body.

The body was taken to Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla, for postmortem. Shimla Additional Superintendent of Police , Rattan Negi said that a case under Section 119 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023 has been registered and further probe is underway.
