Deputy Commissioner Jatin Lal today said that 197 orphan children in the district were at present getting foster care facility under the ‘Sponsorship and Foster Care’ scheme of the government.
Lal, while presiding over a meeting of the District Child Welfare Committee, said that under the scheme, every child was given a financial assistance of Rs 4,500 per month for meeting his education and other general expenses.
Lal directed the Child Welfare Committee to visit the Union government-funded National Career Service Centre regularly to know about the facilities being provided to the children studying and staying at the centre.
Lal said the administration would provide a building, toilets and other basic infrastructure for the children of migrant workers studying at the Non-Residential Special Training Centre. He also directed the committee to visit the Observation-cum-Special Home for children at Samoor Kalan village and inquire about the boarding and lodging facilities, besides recreational and educational facilities available to them.
