2 drug peddlers arrested with 5.5 kg of cannabis in Shimla

Both accused belong to Uttarakhand | Booked under NDPS Act

In a major breakthrough, two interstate drug peddlers from Uttarakhand have been arrested with 5.53 kg of charas (cannabis) in Shimla.

The accused have been identified as Rajmohan (34) of Sewa village in Moori tehsil of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, and Sohan Dass (57) of Adbadi village in the same tehsil.

The accused were arrested on Wednesday from Jijendi Kainchi, near Gasango Pul, after the police received a tip-off that two interstate drug peddlers  were travelling with contraband. Taking immediate action, a special cell team of the Shimla police started patrolling the area and arrested the accused.

Shimla SP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi confirmed the report and said a case under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act had been registered against the accused and further investigation was on.
