22 held for gambling in Parwanoo

A Special Investigation Team of the Solan police arrested 22 persons, including 16 from the Circuit House at Parwanoo, for indulging in gambling in the last two days.

SP Solan Virender Sharma said that the caretaker of the Circuit House at Parwanoo along with 15 other men from Pinjore and Kalka were found gambling in room number 5 by the team on Saturday night. A sum of Rs 1,39,200 and four gambling dices were recovered from their possession.

Those arrested are Sukhwinder, Harprit, Sushil Rawat, Sukhwinder Singh, Desh Prem, Deepak Kumar, Jagdish Singh, Harsh, Ashish, Praveen, Om Prakash, Shyam Sunder Ravinder Kumar, Ricky Khurana, Kamal Kumar and Hemchand.

The police were probing whether such activities had been carried out in the past too. A case under the Gambling Act has been registered.

In another case, six persons were arrested for gambling at Taksal village near Parwanoo last evening.

A sum of Rs 23,200 and playing cards were recovered from their possession.
