Una, December 23

A district-level felicitation ceremony for distinguished school sportspersons was organised today at Government Senior Secondary School, Thanakalan.

Rural Development Minister Virender Kanwar honoured 226 students who had represented the district and the state in school sports tournaments in 2019.

Kanwar also honoured physical education teachers who had been associated with the training of the students.

The Rural Development Minister called upon the youth to channel their energy in sports and plan out their coaching schedule to find time for academics as well as games.

The minister said the state government had made a provision of 3 per cent job quota in the state for players of national level.

“The government is creating sports infrastructure at the school and panchayat level to boost games,” the Rural Development Minister added.
