27 people in contact with COVID-19 positive Mandi youth traced

As many as 27 people, who had come in contact with the Jogindernagar youth, have been traced. The youth was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College and Hospital at Nerchowk, Mandi.

According to official sources, the 30-year-old positive patient had travelled from Delhi to his native place in Drubal panchayat, under Jogindernagar assembly segment, Mandi district, on April 29, along with four other persons.

He came in contact with four of his family members and nine healthcare staff, including an ASHA worker, female healthcare workers and doctors. Apart from this, 10 people were found to be in secondary contact with the concerned patient.

The Mandi district health authority has put all contacts under strict observation. Their tests will be conducted for detection of COVID-19.

As many as 28 samples were taken in Mandi district on Tuesday for the detection of COVID-19 infection. Their reports are still awaited.

Mandi Deputy Commissioner Rugved Thakur said: “We are monitoring the situation minutely and all necessary steps have been taken to check the spread of the virus. The area of Drubal panchayat has been declared as containment zone, where the movement of people has been restricted strictly.”

The DC urged the people to follow social distancing strictly and wear a mask whenever they ventured out of their houses. He also urged people, who arrived in the district from other states, to follow home-quarantine norm strictly to check the spread of COVID-19.
