27k students across state appear for PARAKH survey

Thousands of students from classes III, VI and IX appeared in the exam, conducted by NCERT through Samagra Shiksha.
As many as 1,367 field invigilators were deployed to conduct the exam. The performance of the students will decide the position of the state in the survey.
In the last PARAKH survey, the state was placed at a lowly at the 21st spot.
The Education Department has put in serious efforts, including holding mock tests for the students, to improve the standing of the state in this exam. The exam was conducted in 1,215 schools — 589 government schools, 505 private schools and 113 Kendriya Vidyalayas. The survey was conducted on OMR sheets.
As per a Samagra Shiksha spokesperson, students of classes III and VI were tested for their knowledge of language, mathematics and ‘The World Around Us’ (EVS) in the exam. Students of Class IX were tested for their knowledge of language, mathematics, science and social science.
As per the guidelines of the government, Samagra Shiksha and the Education Department together made preparations for the survey on a large scale.
Zero periods were set up in schools, question papers related to the survey were made available to the schools on the practice portal of Vidya Samiksha Kendra (VSK) of Samagra Shiksha, and students were made to practice on the OMR sheet so that they could become well acquainted with this process.
“Besides, three mock tests were conducted in schools before the survey to assess the preparedness of schoolchildren. Around 1.60 lakh students participated in the first mock test, around 1.76 lakh in the second, and around 3 lakh students from government schools as well as private schools participated in the third test,” the spokesperson said.
